Youth Basketball

Our Co-ed Little Spartans Basketball program combines team play and individual skills in a fun and supportive environment through our basketball leagues, clinics, or classes. Kids can develop their basketball skills including passing, receiving, shooting, footwork and dribbling. This is a great way for our youth to learn fundamentals and skill development in a safe and supervised environment. Not only will they have an opportunity to improve their technique, but they’ll also build social skills, gain confidence and develop leadership skills.

Ages are from 5 years old to 13 years old. Registration for youth basketball opens in September with sessions beginning in mid December and ending in February. The youth practice/play for 8 weeks on Saturday mornings. We do not play over Christmas and New Years.(The link for the registration form become active when signups open.)

Leagues are as follows:

  • Ages 5, 6, 7 (playing half court with height adjusted baskets)
  • Ages 8, 9, 10
  • Ages 11, 12, 13
  • The system will automatically place your player in the correct age group based on their birthdate. Players that play an age group in the fall and return for the spring will be placed in that same league unless otherwise requested.
  • If needed, you may request that your player play up in the next age group. We do not allow children to play down in a lower age group unless mitigating circumstances exist. (IE mental and or physical handicaps)
    • All Play up requests will be approved.
    • Play down requests are reviewed and may or may not be approved.
    • To request an age-group change, please complete your registration first and then email your request to .  Be specific as to pd****@****************re.gov why you are making the request.

UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT

All players  are required to wear the uniform jerseys for games. Jerseys are ordered prior to the start of the season and distributed through the coaches. Shirt size is required on your registration form. Please be sure to complete that section.

  • Sneakers are required
  • Ball sizes
    • 5, 6, 7 – Size 4
    • 8, 9, 10 – Size 5
    • 11, 12, 13 – Size 5 or 6 can be used
  • NO JEWELRY, no hard hair barrettes, no casts.
