Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmation Action Statement and Employment Policies

It is the policy of the City to foster, maintain, and promote equal employment opportunity.  The City shall select employees on the basis of an applicant’s qualifications for the job and reward them, with respect to compensation and opportunity for training and advancement, without regards to age, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, political affiliation, or national origin.  Applicants with physical handicaps shall be given equal consideration with other applicants for positions in with their physical handicaps do not represent an unreasonable barrier to satisfactory performance of duties or to the safety of co-workers.

  • Non-Discrimination Policy: The City prohibits all forms of discrimination, including any employment-related action by an employee that adversely affects an applicant or member and is based on actual or perceived race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, pregnancy, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, and any other classification or status protected by law.
  • Complaint Procedures: Employees are encouraged to promptly report any discriminatory, retaliatory, or harassing conduct or known violations of this policy to a supervisor. Any employee who is not comfortable with reporting violations of this policy to the member’s immediate supervisor may bypass the chain of command and make the report to a higher-ranking supervisor or manager in accordance with the procedures set forth in the City policy.
