At the April 20, 2026 City Council Meeting, Mayor Frank Tolson proclaimed the week of April 19th-25th as National Library Week in the City of Harrington. National Library Week celebrates the vital role libraries, librarians, and workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. Thank you to all our wonderful staff and volunteers at the Harrington Public Library.

Fire Hydrant Flow Testing Scheduled for June 1st
The City of Harrington will be flow testing all the fire hydrants in the city ,beginning on June 1, 2026. The process will take several days.
Despite the newly installed automatic water flushers that have reduced brown water issues, citizens may still encounter brown water as a result of this process.
The best method to remediate any brown water issues at your home is to flush your water lines, utilizing your outdoor faucet. Please let the water run until clear. If after a few minutes the water does not clear, please contact Public Works, 302-398-3423
A friendly reminder that your Water/Sewer/Trash bills are due May 10, 2026.

The Delaware Police Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) is proud to announce that the Harrington Police Department has officially earned state accreditation from the Delaware Police Accreditation Commission (DPAC). As part of the rigorous process, a team of DPAC assessors ensured all accreditation standards were met by completing comprehensive on-site inspections of the agency, reviewing their policies and procedures for compliance, and conducting interviews with department members. Accreditation is a major achievement that reflects their commitment to professionalism, accountability, and excellence in service.
This recognition doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of hard work, high standards, and a dedication to keeping Harrington safe every single day.
